Who We Are:
Hum is a startup company moving rapidly towards profitability. Our core offering is a Customer Data Platform built to help content rich organizations understand their customers through the lens of their content. Our customers range from academic publishers to media companies and news organizations.
Under the hood we’ve really always been a data and AI company. Hum was using transformers to enable production use-cases over a year before ChatGPT broke the Internet. Our Alchemist AI product is now out and about - launching this year as its own line of service offers outside of the core CDP.
The most exciting of these initial offerings are our Alchemist Taxonomy product and our Alchemist Review prototype.
-
Our Alchemist Taxonomy product uses small and large language models to build a hierarchically organized topic model based only on the customer’s content. These taxonomies have been shown to rival human curated ones, but can be generated for a fraction of the time and cost.
It can then tag content on an ongoing basis using this custom taxonomy with exceptional accuracy. -
Our Alchemist Review prototype is directed at the scholarly/academic publishing industry. It leverages AI to streamline several aspects of editorial work in the peer review process. By expanding the capabilities of human editors, this product can dramatically reduce review fatigue and overload in an industry inundated by the volume of papers published each year.

What Hum has to offer:
-
Flexible schedule: We protect the hours of 9am - 1pm eastern for meetings and collaboration. Otherwise your schedule is yours to make.
-
Fully remote with a Technology Stipend in your first paycheck to support your hardware and home office set up.
-
Take the time off all the time you need with our Responsible PTO policy
-
Generous packages for family leave.

About the Hiring Manager:
Dylan DiGioia has spent 10 years working in technology across various companies, projects, and roles. He has spent time in factories and warehouses building automation systems, many long nights securing networks against cyber threats, several months managing an internal coding boot camp, and most recently has been focused on improving customer experiences using data (first for ecommerce and now for associations & publishers). He’s coached, managed, and mentored dozens of engineers and says “seeing the people from my team grow into leaders in their own right has been the most rewarding experience of my career.” As an engineer, he prioritizes speed, experimentation, and working iteratively with the philosophy of “never wait on perfection when you can make something better today."
Dylan spends time hiking with his wife and dog, cooking, making mead, and pursuing perfect at home coffee bliss. He’s one of a few coffee experts here at Hum and is always eager to chat about roasting coffee beans or how to choose the right brew style for your morning routine.
